# Quickstart

> Share your first report in minutes.

  <Step title="Install Daytalog">
    Download and install the latest macOS build from [daytalog.com](https://daytalog.com).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Launch Daytalog">
    Open Daytalog. When it’s running, you’ll find its icon in the macOS menu bar (top right) for quick access. Daytalog runs in the background and is always just a click away.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create your first Project">
    From the menu bar icon, choose "Projects" → "New Project". This creates a project folder you can configure anytime. Learn more about your [project folder](/get-started/project-folder).

  <Step title="Create your first Preset">
    Add your first [preset](/features/presets) in project settings. A **preset** links a [template](/features/create-templates) to a selectable option. A **template** is the base layout. **Presets** gives it a name and optional starting settings. The preset name is what appears in menus.

    Click the menu bar icon → "[New shooting day](/features/shooting-dayta)" to create a new log.
